Magnus White was a 17-year-old on the verge of becoming a world-class cyclist. Last year, while on a training ride 15 minutes from his home in Boulder, he was struck from behind by a driver and killed.
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, approximately 25 Venus sisters joined over 4,000 cyclists in Magnus’ memory, in what ended up as the largest advocacy bike ride in the nation’s history. We rode from the CU campus out to Magnus’ ghost bike on the Diagonal in a stream of bikes that went on for ten miles, gathering to call for better laws and improved infrastructure to protect cyclists and other vulnerable road users.
It was heartwarming to see so many Venus sisters show up and ride together in the Ride for Magnus. Let’s hope we never have to do this again.
