Foolin’ Around in Frisco

Posted on by

Twenty Venus Bike Club members escaped the sweltering summer heat for Frisco’s alpine climate and charm. And, of course, the weekend included nothing short of laughter, climbs, and a little mischief at every turn.

To no one’s surprise, “the big girls” conquered Ute Pass on the first day of our trip — bright and early too!

Can you guess who’s the Lovely and Mysterious mountain mistress?

“The rest of us” hit snooze a few times before waking to a sunny Friday morning, then pedaled off with glee toward Breckenridge.

The afternoon was filled with plenty of relaxing downtime for a tasty lunch and leisurely stroll through charming downtown Frisco.

INDEED!

Saturday meant tackling the big climb to Vail Pass through Copper Mountain — with “the big girls” hitting the road at early morning hustle time, naturally!

“The rest of us” embarked on a side quest to check out the whimsical yarn-bombing (or “sweater art”) installations in downtown Frisco before our challenging ascent.

With raucous laughter and cheering echoing through the pines, these women warriors turned Vail Pass into a summit of sisterhood — pedaling, gasping (maybe some swearing), and finally high-fiving each other as they made their way to the top.

Venus riders didn’t just conquer Vail Pass — they whooped their way over the top and kept going, fueled by grit and giggles.

After a shower, snacks, and perhaps a nap, it was time for happy hour and dinner!

On Sunday morning, one fearless Venus rider cranked her way up Loveland Pass like a total badass while a merry trio meandered their way around Lake Dillon.

Meanwhile, a daring dozen tackled Swan Mountain, snapped a few photos of the view from up high, then whooshed down, and cruised on to Keystone.

In the afternoon, several Venus members hugged it out and hit the road, while eleven lucky ones looked forward to setting sail for the annual pontoon happy hour — a cherished tradition packed with laughs, lake breezes, and a splash of mischief.

The snacks were snazzy, the drinks delightful, tunes cranked just right, and singing and dancing that may or may not be on video.

It was the captain’s birthday, so naturally, the pontoon partay was extra special, and yes, there was cake!

This was the first Venus destination trip for these two ladies, and this image captures everything we love about these getaways: adventure, connection, and joy on two wheels.
